FAQ

Here you will find answers to your questions about our counseling services.

  • Is the counseling free?

Yes, all our services are free and voluntary! You don't need a voucher. Our work is funded by the State of Berlin (SenASGIVA).

  • Can I come to you spontaneously, without an appointment?

We generally work with appointments. However, there are exceptions: At some locations we offer open office hours. See our counseling locations.

  • How long does it take to get an appointment?

We endeavour to respond as quickly as possible. We receive a large number of requests and cannot offer all languages at all locations. We distribute the appointments within the team and reply to appointment requests within three working days.

  • I need a job very quickly, can you help me?

You need to plan in a lot of time for a job search in Germany. You need a CV and often other documents. We can support you along the way so that you can find a job yourself. We will advise you individually depending on your life situation and your priorities.

  • Can you help me with processing Jobcenter documents? (if I have questions about recognition, housing, etc.?)

No, we offer job counseling. We can help you with all your questions relating to your application: This includes advice on your CV and cover letter, preparation for interviews, searching for jobs and career orientation. If you have questions about other topics, you can still contact us and we will be happy to refer you to the right place.

  • I don’t speak German well (yet), can I still have a counseling appointment?

Yes, our counselors speak the following languages: German, English, Arabic, Farsi, Ukrainian, Russian, French, Spanish and Italian. However, we would like to point out that you have a better chance of finding a job if your German skills are at A2 or B1 level or above. If your German skills are not sufficient, we can offer you a counseling appointment where we will give you initial information about the Berlin job market and where you can ask your questions.

  • I don't have a work permit - can you still help me?

If you do not have a work permit, we cannot offer you counseling. Please note: We are not lawyers and cannot give you legal advice. If you have any questions about your stay, there are many other organizations in Berlin that can help you. We will be happy to refer you to some of these organizations.

  • I am only allowed to work with prior approval from the immigration office - can you help me?

If you have a permission to work only with prior approval from the immigration authorities, we can help you find a job. Please note that this process may take a little longer.

  • How long does a counseling appointment usually take?

The first appointment can last up to 90 minutes. We want to get to know you, understand your situation and make a plan as to how we can support you in a meaningful way. Follow-up appointments usually last 60 minutes.

  • What do I need to bring to an appointment?

It is best to bring all the documents you need for a job application to your first appointment: your ID, your CV, your employment and education certificates, language certificates or other relevant documents.

  • I have an appointment with MobiJob, but I can't come. What do I need to do?

Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot make it to your appointment. If you do not cancel in time, we cannot guarantee that you will get a new appointment.

  • Unfortunately I am late for my appointment, what should I do?

Let your counselor know as early as possible. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late without notice, we cannot guarantee that your consultation will still take place.

  • I can't reach my counselor immediately, what should I do?

We can be reached in several ways: You can contact us by email, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Please understand that we are only available during our working hours and cannot answer the phone during appointments. We will endeavor to call you back as soon as possible. It is best to write us a message, which we can respond to later.
