Successful job entry in the Corona period: Immanuel Ndemumana
In Berlin, too, the economic situation has become more difficult as a result of the pandemic. The positive examples from the consultation give all the more hope. This includes the story of Immanuel Ndemumana, a qualified welder from Namibia, who found a full-time job during Corona with the help of the MobiJob project.
Before Immanuel came to Germany, he lived and worked in London for a long time. However, due to Brexit and personal reasons, he moved to Berlin in early 2020. Shortly thereafter, however, everyday life in the federal capital was turned upside down by the virus - with consequences for job hunting. Immanuel sent out over 14 applications in one week, but without success despite the shortage of skilled workers. At MobiJob he received support. A little later, a metal construction company from Lichtenberg got in touch and wanted to get to know him personally.
"MobiJob helped me to improve my CV and cover letter. I also got tips on how to behave in an interview. I was always able to contact my advisor if I had any questions and he also often sent me job offers, which was great was helpful."
Immanuel was invited to try out work and immediately impressed with his talent and experience. In April he signed his employment contract. He has thus shown that it is possible to achieve one's own goals even in difficult times and under special circumstances. What helped him above all was the very flexible cooperation: at the beginning of March in two personal consultation appointments at JOB POINT and in the Welcome-to-Work office in Spandau, then due to the corona-related closures in four further appointments on the phone.
“I am happy to be self-employed now and to be able to pay my bills. That way I have fewer worries. Thank you MobiJob!” – Immanuel Ndemumana
The MobiJob team is very happy for Immanuel and hopes that his story will encourage other people to find good work during Corona.
